Jake- Golden Retriever

Did you say W-A-L-K?
Jake is almost 4 years old and he is my sweetheart! A Momma's boy to the core! He loves his Daddy too, but like a lot of little boys, Mom is IT! We brought him home the night of his 6 week birthday, so little and fuzzy, just 3 1/2 pounds (just under 80 lbs now) and just too cute! He had my heart at the first sighting and hasn't let go since!
Jake was a typical Golden Retriever puppy! How he could make a mess! I can't say how many times I came home to disasters, but it was numerous occassions to be sure. The worst of which, (and my husband and I agree), was when he was about 7 months old and he found and chewed up a red ballpoint ink pen on our light beige living room carpet! The day after we had signed a contract with a real estate agent to sell the house! When we looked up from our movie and saw what he had, and that he had ink all over his paws and face, my husband picked him up,(now about 45 pounds), to carry him outside. As he walked by the couch, Jake started to squirm and my husband lost his balance and fell on the sofa with Jake in his arms and broke the leg off the sofa! Well, several hours and 4 bottles of rubbing alcohol later, the carpet was very nearly back to normal. The couch was fixed and Jake was cleaned up to an extent, some of it just had to wear off! We often refer to that experience as the definition of "Justifiable Homicide"! We didn't kill him, and we can laugh now, but boy he really tested our love that night!
Jake and his sister Jill, our Border Collie are the joy in our lives! We have so much fun and derive so much joy and laughter from them, we could not imagine how empty our life would be without them and their antics to keep us young! I would wish this blessing on anyone, that you find your own "fuzzy forever friend" and fall in love and laughter again and again!
